Positioning debt
Positioning debt is the accumulated cost of never deciding what a business is for, paid down in higher acquisition costs, weaker pricing and slower sales cycles.
Like technical debt, it compounds quietly and is invisible on a P&L. It shows up as marketing spend that works less well each year, sales conversations that take longer to qualify, and a homepage that describes rather than positions.
Every additional audience, use case and line of copy added "just in case" is a further borrowing against clarity. The interest is paid by every future campaign.
