AI position

An AI position is what an organisation’s AI programme is actually pointed at: saving cost and time, or capturing opportunity it could not previously pursue.

Almost every AI programme is sold on efficiency and judged on efficiency. That is the smaller half of the question, and it has a floor. You can only remove a cost once, and competitors buying the same tools reach the same floor.

The position that compounds points at opportunity and runs on connected systems rather than isolated tools. Efficiency is table stakes; the opportunity is the point.

Often confused with

AI readiness, which asks whether you can run it rather than what it is for.
