The AI Position

Theatre

Your AI programme is producing demonstrations, not outcomes.

Pointed at saving cost and time · Isolated tools

Nothing here is load-bearing yet. Tools were chosen individually, the justification was efficiency, and no one owns the output when it is wrong. This is the most common position in the market and the least discussed, because it looks like progress from the outside. The good news is that nothing is entrenched, so the cost of choosing a direction now is close to zero.

The three moves from here

  1. Pick one process that actually costs you money and instrument it before you automate it.
  2. Name an owner for the output, not the tool. The output.
  3. Decide, in writing, whether this programme exists to save or to capture. Ambiguity here is what produced the theatre.
